Gideon, the youngest in his family, was surprised and doubtful when an angel from God told him he would free his people. Gideon was so unsure of his ability that he asked God for several signs to prove that God was guiding him and would take care of every detail. Patiently, God gave Gideon the assurance he needed. Gideon not only destroyed the altar of Baal, but with an army of only 300 men, he defeated the Midianites.
