Guest Teachers in Sunday School

Summer is a great time to mix things up in your Sunday school classes. For example, you might try bringing guest speakers into your Sunday school classes. Someone who is close to the age of your class would provide a role model for your students and someone who can relate to challenges and answer questions that your students are currently facing.

Try inviting members from your church congregation into your classroom. This would help connect your Sunday school students with your older church family, making students feel more connected to their church and churchgoers more connected with the Sunday school. You might even bring in churchgoers of other churches and denominations from within your community, which would increase everyone’s awareness of the love and spiritual guidance that God provides to us all.

Also, don't hesitate to invite classes of different ages to come hear the visiting guest speaker. Allowing small classes to come together can provide a special and sometimes more vibrant atmosphere for discussion and sharing.

For younger Sunday school teachers, you might even ask an older student from the Sunday school to come and talk to your class. Encourage your class to ask questions. Not only will your youngsters gain from the experience, but the older student visiting your class will gain teaching and speaking experience.

If guest speakers are hard to find, consider swapping Sunday school classes and teachers. Switch classes with a fellow teacher, even if you teach different age groups, to allow your students to hear someone else's healing experiences. When you are back with your own class the next week, ask what they learned and share what you gained from the students you taught in the other class. This will help bring your entire Sunday school closer together.

The cool thing about communication is that it is a two-way path: communication blesses the speaker and the listener.
