Swap
Shop is a place to exchange ideas for activities
in Sunday school; share your success stories in
teaching the Bible to children; and provide ways
to foster a love for the Bible.
Swap Shop – Sunday School teacher, Ann Voges, from Texas, shares how she helped 7-9 year olds listen and trust.
I brought 12 small paper cups to class, along with a scarf to blindfold the children. We talked first about how important it is to trust God by listening to His ideas and then to follow His guidance. One student was blindfolded. Another student directed him, one cup at a time, as where each cup should be placed. The point was that the first student had to trust the other student as to how he would be guided to place the cups. He had to trust, listen to the directions, and follow them in order to place the cups in the directed way. We made a circle, a cross, and a pyramid!
It was a successful activity. The three students each had a turn at giving directions and listening for directions. It seemed to click for them as to how we must listen to our Father-Mother, then be obedient to that direction, as well as trust the guidance. We continue to review that lesson. They remember about listening!
