Last month in the Teaching the Bible – Activities section, we included an exercise to create your own posters. These posters were designed to help children overcome fear. Since then, others have created a few of their own poster designs with magazine pictures and Bible verses.

Three are included below:

One Sunday school teacher has encouraged the students to bring to class one Bible verse a week.  The members of the class take the verses home and look for pictures.  The next week, they bring the pictures to class and everyone votes on which picture best represents each quote. Then the teacher laminates the picture and the quote as an 8 1/2 x 11 poster.

Students have asked for 2 x 2 versions of their posters to put in their lockers at school or in their notebooks as helpful reminders.

You might encourage this as a project for National Bible Week or Thanksgiving or Christmas.

One class has decorated a church bulletin board in the main corridor with its posters. Members and visitors stop and smile. Many ask where they can get their own copies. Some students have contemplated turning this project into a fundraiser. If students take their own photographs or draw their own pictures, this might work quite well. Otherwise, there could be a problem with copyright permissions on pictures. This could be a good gift idea for family members.

Share your successes with us and we’ll be happy to post them on BibleWise.
